Hokkaido Barrel was born from the fusion of two rare capabilities: an exceptional precision in sourcing, made possible by deep knowledge of Hokkaido timber and a distinctive network, and an exceptional precision in craft, applying the fine-woodworking expertise cultivated through Asahikawa Furniture. Free from convention, we widen the possibilities of the barrel through a diverse range of wood species, and we craft barrels with a clear sense of where the wood comes from—barrels that carry a story all their own. In doing so, we expand what a drink can become, heighten its rarity, and deliver singular value to makers and drinkers around the world.
We currently accept orders for three wood species: Japanese Oak, highly regarded in the world of whisky; Japanese Cherry, which bears the blossoms that symbolize Japan; and Japanese Chestnut, whose nuts have graced Japanese tables since ancient times.
